This time, it is our pleasure to share a window on our practice with you. For this purpose we have interviewed Marjolein Evers-Velten, personal assistant to MA/MSc Eline Holten, GM of Endoor.

Since Marjolein’s start at Endoor on September 1st, 2019 via Smeenk’s Personal Assistants, her qualities of loving a challenge and always looking for solutions have proven to be very welcome. Endoor being an enterprising partner organization of “ROC van Twente”, offering tailor-made vocational education, training and courses for adults.

Energetic and enthusiastic, Marjolein provides substantive and organizational support to her GM and boosts the organization’s team connectivity. “Because I take work off my GM’s hands, she is able to fully focus on the organization’s growth. And if our team works together well, everything runs more smoothly and we will achieve better results.”

A PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO RELY ON! | MARJOLEIN EVERS-VELTEN

“I love a challenge and always look for solutions,” says Marjolein Evers. As a personal assistant to MA/MSc Eline Holten, GM of Endoor, these qualities are very welcome. Energetic and enthusiastic, Marjolein offers substantive and organizational support to her GM and boosts the team connectivity. “As I am able to take work off Eline’s hands, Eline is able to completely focus on the growth of Endoor.”

Endoor (derived from the Dutch saying ‘’keep going’’) represents lifelong development. “We are part of “ROC van Twente”, which focuses on tailor-made vocational education, training and courses for adults,” says Marjolein, who joined the organization on September 1st, 2019 via Smeenk’s Personal Assistants. “Eline is extremely busy, 24/7, so she relies on me to arrange matters. I manage her agenda, prepare documents, read her reports, prepare presentations and workflows and am involved in hiring new employees. A ‘service center in one person’, if you will. In addition, I function as her sounding board, enabling her to vent her thoughts or ideas. I also make sure that I am well aware of any specifics, enabling me to assist Eline in the best way.”

Team spirit

Marjolein is also committed to boosting the team connectivity. “For example, if there are matters requiring attention, I draw Eline’s attention to these. I also take care of the social component. For example, team events and gifts for colleagues. Because if we work well together as a team, everything runs more smoothly and we will achieve better results. During the corona crisis for example, we managed to retain many commissions and ended the year on budget. An achievement we as a team are very proud of! Eline offers room in what I arrange for the team and also encourages me in this. Usually I am the one who surprises colleagues, but recently I had to stay at home myself due to a hernia and the doctor recommended a glass of red wine every night. The next thing I know, two bottles of red wine were delivered to my home as a gift from my colleagues. A small gesture, but great significance.”

Stronger together

Marjolein and Eline work together closely. Marjolein: “Eline has an active personality and a love for quick results. It gives her peace of mind when she knows that she can rely on me getting things done. She notices that I deliver good results. I can decide on the way I approach and organize my work. She gives me a significant amount of freedom in my role and confidence as well. I appreciate receiving Eline’s confirmation every now and then that I am doing well. That gives me renewed energy. And we are honest to eachother, also when things might not be going as well. That openness is part of our cooperation.

Tech savvy

“What I also value is that Eline always provides me with new challenges”, says Marjolein. “Her working days are never the same. As a result, she also appreciates me learning new skills. A good example is Eline’s recent presentation to our executive board. We had decided that we wanted to do a different presentation this time. I then prepared one with Eline’s voice-over, which could be played as a video. Something I had never done that before, but I simply dove into it and got it done. Our contribution was very positively received by the executive board, which we both enjoyed.”

Connected in a top team

Maartje Smeenk from Smeenk’s Personal Assistants noticed early on that Marjolein and Eline would be such a top match. “The application process went very smoothly. Maartje Smeenk is very correct, pleasant and very attentive. Even now, twenty-two months after the mediation, she regularly inquires how things are or sends a small gift. Maartje is a good networker and you can tell that her interest genuinely comes from her heart. Maartje feels it is very important that her matches are successful. And long-term. Long term is certainly a fact for Eline and Marjolein. “My role offers me so much room and freedom and I genuinely enjoy being able to help Eline achieve sustainable top-level results for Endoor” says Marjolein.
